Troubleshoot invalid_request during login

An invalid_request page during Cfx.re/FiveM sign-in means the authentication request was rejected. The message alone does not identify the cause. An expired login flow, browser session issue or changed URL can be involved; start a new login attempt before changing server settings.

This guide covers browser-based login. The in-game message Invalid Request: source is a different issue; see the final section.

1. Start a fresh login

  1. Close old authentication and error tabs.
  2. Return to the application that initiated the login: FiveM or your normal txAdmin panel URL.
  3. Click its sign-in button again.
  4. Complete the new flow promptly in the same browser.

Do not reuse a bookmarked authentication callback or an old /interaction/ URL. Those URLs may contain temporary session information.

2. Test a private window or another browser

For txAdmin browser login, open your usual panel address in a private window and start a new sign-in attempt. Alternatively, try a different browser.

If login succeeds there, your usual browser profile or its site data may be involved. This test is more useful than immediately clearing all browsing data.

If the login is launched by the FiveM client, restart the flow from FiveM. A private browser test does not necessarily reproduce the client's authentication environment.

3. Clear affected site data

If the browser test suggests a session problem:

  1. Open browser settings.
  2. Find stored cookies and site data for your txAdmin address and the Cfx.re authentication site involved in the error.
  3. Remove that site's data.
  4. Close related tabs and start login again.

Clearing cookies signs you out. Clearing only cached images and files may leave a broken authentication session intact.

In Chrome, Edge and Firefox, Ctrl + Shift + Delete opens a browsing-data dialog. Review the selected categories and time range before confirming. On Safari, use Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data to manage site data; emptying its cache alone does not clear cookies.

4. Check the browser environment

  • Temporarily test without extensions that block login scripts, redirects or required cookies.
  • Confirm the computer's date and time are correct.
  • Use the normal panel URL consistently rather than switching hostnames during login.
  • On a self-hosted reverse proxy, check recent hostname, HTTPS and redirect changes against your deployment configuration.

Make one change at a time so you can tell what helped. Avoid weakening browser privacy settings globally.

5. Restart the affected application

For a FiveM login problem, fully close FiveM and start a new login attempt.

For a txAdmin browser login problem, try the fresh browser flow first. Only restart the parent txAdmin process if the issue persists and you have permission to manage it. Plan for possible service interruption; restarting the game server alone is not the same as restarting txAdmin.

6. Collect useful evidence

If the issue persists, record:

  • Whether it affects FiveM login, txAdmin browser login or the in-game menu.
  • The exact visible error text.
  • Browser and operating system.
  • txAdmin version, if applicable.
  • Whether a fresh flow, private window or another browser works.
  • Recent domain, proxy or authentication changes.

Redact interaction IDs, authorization codes, tokens, cookies and private URLs from screenshots and logs.

Different error: in-game Invalid Request: source

This is not the same as the browser OAuth-style invalid_request page. The txAdmin menu documentation describes it as a source-address check on communication between FXServer and txAdmin.

First verify the hosting network/proxy setup with your provider. Do not clear browser data or disable source checks as a blanket fix for it. A registered admin can use /txAdmin-reauth to retry menu authentication, but that does not correct an underlying network configuration problem.
